Tithing Settlement in the Canyon View Ward

Every year our Bishop Scott Whiting interviews each family in the ward. Our appointment was at 11:40 Saturday morning. We discussed ward and family goals and confirmed our donations. He blessed us to have a happy and prosperous new year. Bishop Whiting has been our Bishop since we arrived three and a half years ago. We hope he will be our Bishop forever, but someday soon another Bishop will be called. Unlike many clergy in other religions, Mormon bishops receive no pay or financial benefits altough they devote countless hours serving Mormons throughout the world. Our Bishop Whiting earns a living as a property manager. By the way, Robert's father (Lee Benson Valentine) and both grandfathers (Walter Ernest Young and Nephi James Valentine) served as bishops at times in their lives. Robert has served as a counselor to wonderful bishops and branch presidents in North Carolina and Nebraska.
