Robert Young Valentine and Shauna Burgon Valentine met at BYU, fell in love and were married in 1967. They have lived in Provo, Utah; Durham and Laurinburg, North Carolina; and, for nearly three decades in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bob and Shauna moved back to Utah in 2004 into a new home in Highland. 9th Hike for the Boys of Summer 2010 - Desolation Lake





Up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Trailhead. 2.6 miles up Mill D North Fork Canyon to Desolation Lake at 9,232 ft. Up a few more hundred feet to the "spine" on the Great Western Trail that permits a view of Salt Lake Valley to the West and Park City to the East! Breathtaking views. Then down Beartrap Fork, a quiet side canyon about 2.2 miles to the botton of Big Cottonwood, then another 1.6 miles back to the car. The best hike yet!
