2007 Tholen Family Reunion in Midvale Utah
Last Saturday, we gathered with the descendents of Anna Charlotta Johnson, Shauna's great grandmother, mother of Shauna's grandmother Mamie. Annie emigrated from Sweden in 1882. She married great grandfather John in 1884 when he was 31 and she was 24. Annie died in 1953 in Mamie's home. Shauna was seven when she died and remembers her great grandmothers's long honey blonde hair that she would wind up in a knot on her head. Shauna can send you a longer biography, if you wish. We visited her grave and the graves of other dear ancestors, including Mamie, Shauna's grandmother. It was a hot day, but we stopped by each grave and read about their lives.
July 24, 2007 Pioneer Day in Utah!
Rather than watching the big parade in nearby Salt Lake City, our neighborhood had a fundraiser for a baby born with some problems. A parade, a silent auction, games and activities raised several thousand dollars from mostly the neighbors. Robert bid and won a gourmet meal for twelve by one of Utah's top chefs, a friend of the baby's grandfather. Lisa and Topher came with their kids. Pictured are Phoebe, Miles and Own on their decorated bikes. Remember the Pioneers! Great grandfather arrived in Utah in 1853 and lived with his small family in an adobe shack for years. Look at our homes today!
