Happy 11th Birthday to Zane Valentine

For his birthday, Zane climbed to the "Y" on the mountain above the BYU campus in Provo with his father Christopher Burgon Valentine. He had a huge party at their home in Sandy, Utah later that evening! Happy Birthday, Zane!

Robertito at the American Community School in Buenos Aires-7th Grade.

Half a day in Spanish, half a day in English. These were great classmates. I have stayed in touch with a couple of them. Your father and grandfather lived in Argentina from 1952 to 1956 and returned to Argentina later from 1962 to 1964 as a missionary. Later, Grampa Robert did business in Argentina and throughout Latin America and around the world for over twenty five years. Yes, I have had a wonderful life. (It got even better when I met Shauna Burgon in the BYU library in 1964 - "What is a gorgeous girl like you doing in the library?" I asked.)

Little Robert in the Second Grade, 1950 at Stanford Elementary School.

I remember all of these kids. We had a wonderful time. Small classes, great teachers, lots of testing. I walked about a mile to and from school every day, perfectly safe back then. Jimmy Finch and I knew the Stanford campus like the backs of our hands. Swimming lessons in the Stanford pool every summer. We have been to the top of the Hoover Tower a million times. I chased the discus after school for Olympic champion (1948/1952) Bob Mathias and never missed a Stanford football game.
