Robert Young Valentine and Shauna Burgon Valentine met at BYU, fell in love and were married in 1967. They have lived in Provo, Utah; Durham and Laurinburg, North Carolina; and, for nearly three decades in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bob and Shauna moved back to Utah in 2004 into a new home in Highland. Silver Lake Trail - Wednesday, July 28, 2010.

4.1 miles up and down. This is a beautiful hike. On the trail Bob Valentine and James Ford encountered a beaver, a deer, lots of chipmunks and a sarcastic BYU religion professor.

Tholen Family Reunion - American Fork Canyon

This year's reunion was just fifteen minutes from our home. All of the Tholens were there. Shauna's mother is Margaret Tholen Burgon. We ate and hiked and ate and talked. Mutual Dell is a fabulous place to gather.

Lake Blanche Trail

Bob Valentine and James Ford took their weekly hike today, this time to Blanche Lake. Starting at 9:30 a.m., they arrived at the top around 1 p.m., ate lunch and descended to the parking lot at 3:30. (They enjoyed another meal at "Curry in a Hurry" on State Street later.) Everyone in Utah should take this wonderful hike. There are three lakes on top: Blanche, Lillian and Florence! Utah is a paradise for hikers! Four weeks; four hikes. Getting in shape!

James Ford and Bob Valentine have already completed three "moderately" strenuous hikes this summer on Mt Aire and Mt Black on the Wasatch front above Salt Lake City. "Moderate" for kids, not old codgers!
