Shauna seems to get more beautiful every day, according to Robert, who gets a workout mowing a third of an acre every week plus the orchard in the park east of the house.

Shauna's First Year as an Elementary School Teacher

Graduation speaker at the McKay College of Education at BYU in August, 1967, Shauna was hired by Alpine School District to teach at the newly constructed Cascade Elementary School in Orem, Utah. She was also asked to appear on the cover of the Alpine School District directory. She married lucky Bob Valentine earlier that year in May, 1967. The previous year, she was Miss Orem 1966 and rode on floats in parades all summer. The $250 scholarship award from the Miss America pageant paid her senior year tuition at the BYU.
